WWE has been able to cross over to mainstream sports and entertainment over the last few years with stars from all over stepping inside the ring – Jason Kelce, Bad Bunny, Jelly Roll, Ryan Garcia, Mike Mathews, Cam Skattebo and Lil Yachty, to name a few.

Even Tom Brady said he would consider a storyline in WWE before getting in the face of Logan Paul and attempting to slap the wrestler. But some fans, in the year of 2026, have grown tired of the mixing between celebrities and professional wrestling.

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio told OutKick Dropkick ahead of Triplemania Night 1 in Las Vegas that he doesn’t mind the mix.

“I really don’t mind it at all. We always had celebrities pop into our world and maybe they were fans prior, maybe they weren’t fans and they came over and they saw our craft, they respected it,” he said. “And people back then, I believe, didn’t really respect wrestling and then they got into the ring, and they felt it, and they were like, ‘Whoa, this s— is real. We thought it was fake.’ No, it’s not fake.

“But overall, I think it’s always fun and cool to have collaborations from celebrities jumping on over to our craft as well as us to their craft, their sport, whatever it is that they’re doing. That makes things much more interesting. We engage with much more fans and I think that’s the goal of it all – to get as many eyes as possible.”

Celebrity involvement is far from a foreign concept.

Mr. T, Muhammad Ali and Cyndi Lauper were among those who were featured at WrestleMania 1. NFL legend Lawrence Taylor took part in a battle royal. Steve McMichael went from Super Bowl champion to in-ring star. David Arquette even won a championship when he was at World Championship Wrestling.

And it goes both ways.

Hulk Hogan became a massive star in film, as did Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynch, Roman Reigns and Liv Morgan have also gotten their taste of Hollywood.

Insane Clown Posse rapper Violent J previously talked to OutKick Dropkick about the hold pro wrestling had on his heart, which led to his in-ring career and the formation of Juggalo Championship Wrestling.

As long as the crossover continues to happen one way, it will certainly have a reverberated effect the other way.
