How am I feeling this morning after being attacked by the crud? I’m playing at about 55%. I’m good enough to get out there and give you guys a full day of work, but there are still some symptoms that are driving me crazy.
If I take a sick day, I’ll guarantee that I’m sick. It’s not lost on me that I’ve been very fortunate to work at home for so many years, so even when I’m at 55%, it’s time to get into the saddle and blog my heart out for you guys, so here we go.
– Nick asks: Do you like-prefer 2 or 3 people announce teams for televised sporting events? I prefer the former. Three or more is too crowded with everyone trying to get their voice heard. NBC’s Sunday Night Baseball essentially has 4 announcers, and it’s beyond annoying.
ESPN SLAMMED FOR AWFUL NFL DRAFT BROADCAST: ‘IT’S A JOKE’
Kinsey: Give me a two-man booth. Has there ever been a three-man booth that has worked? If so, I can’t remember one. Go back to the disastrous 2018 season for ESPN and Monday Night Football. They trotted out Joe Tessitore, Jason Witten (and his fake hair) and Booger McFarland.
That got so bad that someone decided to put Booger into a sideline cart that blocked the view of fans so bad (I raised so much hell online with photographic evidence of Booger blocking fans) that the Booger cart was a one-and-done. ESPN never went back to such a dumb setup, but they had to get Booger out of that three-man booth somehow.

I’m also thinking back to a three-man booth from a couple of years ago with James Lofton and Jay Feely with a play-by-play guy. Jay got mad at me for saying it, but the booth was a mess. Jay is an alpha. He loves to talk. He would talk over Lofton at times. Jay thought I was being too harsh on him, but I was just stating the obvious. If CBS was going to have Feely in the booth, it needed to be a two-man. Now, Feely is a couple of months away from being voted into Congress.

What will I remember about the 2026 NFL preseason? It has to be the fact that the NFL is openly admitting it wants to cook up content revolving around the ladies of the NFL and their boyfriends. Remember those odd interactions between Madison Beer and Justin Herbert where he had to act like he was filming a rom-com?
This week, we travel to Ravens training camp where the Ravens’ official Instagram account played a game of “How well do you know your NFL fiancé” with Elena Yates, who’s engaged to tight end Mark Andrews.
The good news here is that Elena didn’t miss an a question. She seems to be a keeper.

– Brandon in NW Houston writes: Congrats to SC Jr, 11:45:30 as a 14-year-old is phenomenal!
Screencaps Jr. is off to a great start. I hope he sticks with it. For comparison, my son’s 2-mile PR as a freshman was 11:47:10. By the time he hit his junior year, he was competing for podium finishes in his 6A district.
Also, another no-drama sporting event… nice!
What times are the varsity boys running at the high school? You prob know, but MileSplit is a great site to see what the kids are running in your district/state/etc. but I’m not sure if they track junior high times.
Kinsey: Saturday was the first high school varsity race at one of the toughest courses in NW OH. Our best finisher (5K) was 16:46.70. At last year’s state meet, our best runner finished at 15:44.77.
This seems high for meatballs
Last night while I was sitting in the recliner all miserable from this cold, I happened to see this while flipping through the channels. Have you ever spent $90 for 3.75 pounds of meatballs? Those better be some tasty balls.
Gender impersonator
– Doug G. asks me to start using new language: It would go a long way in solving the lie perpetuated by the left in this Country. Since it is not possible to change your gender, I would like to ask you to state the truth in your stories. At all times the person is a gender impersonator not a transgender. You are using a fake made up word that is impossible for a Human Being. Gender Impersonator is the factual way to describe it.
If you do this, we can put an end to the ridiculous fantasy imposed on us.
Kinsey: I sit here trying to fight the transGs in sports by pointing out absurdities and Doug can’t even give me a little credit. You can’t make everyone happy.
– Paul in Brighton, CO reports on the price he’s facing: I love your daily article. Big fan. I just wanted to chime in on the D.C. trip cost as I just booked my son’s 8th grade trip today. We live in Colorado and they are going for 5 days instead of 3. Flight, hotel and food through WorldStrides was $2700 for him. An additional $3700 for me to go and have my own private room. Just ridiculous. We went to Europe last summer for 2 weeks. Flight for 4 people was $4300. We have family over there so only had to pay for 2 nights in a hotel and then of course cost for food/trips/beer. Crazy to compare the cost of a family of 4 in Europe for 2 weeks and 2 people going to D.C. for 5 days.

Now I go to work on getting my health back to 75% and keep trucking along. Let’s go out and make the best of another day of life. And happy September. By the end of the month, the pool will be closed and we’ll be hunkering down for fall. It makes me sick to even think about it.
