Iran has rejected Donald Trump’s initial ceasefire agreement, saying that the war will end when they decide to end it and on their terms. The U.S. offered a ceasefire proposal on Wednesday, and Iran has already countered it.

While Iran has said it isn’t really in talks with the U.S., it has passed along the agreement.  Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, later said the proposals had been “passed on to the country’s senior authorities” but Iran had “no intention of negotiating for now,” accoridng to a report by The Guardian.

Iranian state TV quoted an anonymous official as saying Tehran had rejected the plan it had received via Pakistan, saying it would “end the war when it decides to do so and when its own conditions are met”, and until then would continue fighting across the region. –The Guardian.

Since the U.S started the war, Iran has put its foot down, declaring itself to have the upper hand; it just might. The U.S. is low on supplies, weapons, and ammunition after funding Ukraine’s war for so long, and is seeking a $200 billion package to help fund its continued fighting.

At a fundraiser Wednesday night, Trump claimed Iran was  “negotiating” with the U.S. over fears of being killed.

“They are negotiating, by the way, and they want to make a deal so badly, but they’re afraid to say it because they figure they’ll be killed by their own people,” the president said. “They’re also afraid they’ll be killed by us,” he said, before quipping that no one wanted to lead Iran for fear of being assassinated by the US.
