Caitlyn Jenner reacted to how the WNBA has navigated its latest controversy over whether transgender athletes would be eligible to play in the league.

The WNBA has lacked clarity on whether a transgender athlete would be able to play in the league. In the midst of it all, former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White each launched bids to get into the WNBA.

Jenner appeared on “Fox News @ Night” with Trace Gallagher and said there was a “simple” conclusion to the ordeal.

“They’re showing the hypocrisy of what’s going on out there in the WNBA,” Jenner said of Kanter and White. “The WNBA had their meetings on this issue and Cathy (Engelbert), the head, says, ‘We talked about the trans issue but we just haven’t come up with a conclusion at this point. We will continue the conversation.’ Cathy, XX, you’re in. XY you’re out. It’s that simple.

Caitlyn Jenner smiles while attending NASCAR’s Busch Light Clash at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

“And both these guys I think are doing a good job just to show the WNBA the hypocrisy that’s going on here. We have to protect women’s sports … I want to protect women’s sports. Title IX was one of the greatest legislations for women’s equality – that happened to be in sports.”

The WNBA’s collective bargaining agreement’s Article XIII, Section 1(a) states: “Only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA.” But as OutKick/Fox News Digital previously reported, the 409-page agreement never defines “woman” or “women.” The terms “transgender” and “gender identity” don’t appear anywhere in the document.

The CBA contains detailed definitions for dozens of other terms. Yet the agreement doesn’t define the word that determines who may play in the league.

A WNBA spokesperson said a meeting was held on a “wide range of topics, including ongoing discussions on transgender athletes and the continued hate and vitriol directed at players online.” The league said it “strongly” denounces “bad-faith efforts to use these topics to demean or marginalize others.”
