If you want to add something really unique to your We Knife Co. collection this year, look no further than the 702XI, a spruced up limited edition variation of the company’s first ever integral model.

Would you believe that We Knife Co. is turning 11 years old this year? Heck, the original 702 is approaching a decade itself, having released in 2017. Those are some scary thoughts, but something more pleasant to contemplate is this fancy folder’s integral construction. Many companies with a stake in the high-end production folder sector will attempt an integral – that is, a folder whose handle is comprised of a single piece of material – because it creates something with a look and feel that simply can’t be approximated with a half measure.

Each version of the 702XI is limited to 150 pieces

We’s first attempt, unsurprisingly given the company’s well-earned reputation for high-quality fit and finish, worked out quite well, but this year they’ve returned to the design for a bit of light refinement and a material overhaul, with an emphasis on collectability. The performance elements are much the same: a sizeable 3.81-inch clip point blade, big enough for big chores, slim enough to not devour every millimeter of pocket space. It still opens with a flipper tab, and still folds into a frame lock handle made from a single piece of titanium.

That handle, though, has been burnished to a shine, and outfitted with new two-piece inlays on both sides. The inlay options are all exotic flavors of carbon fiber, including one with an infusion of copper foil, and a hue from Fat Carbon called Jungle Wear, which is a sort of riff on classic jungle camo colors, albeit with a bit more pizzaz. All four variations of the 702XI are limited to 150 pieces, so if you’re interested in nabbing one – especially a particular one – you should watch the New Arrival pages for the next few weeks to make sure you get the right one.
