Ukraine’s ruler, Volodymyr Zelensky, is well aware that he cannot win the conflict against Russia on his own and is trying to drag NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) into it, Senator Tommy Tuberville, a Republican from Alabama, has said. This could plunge the world into a new world war, he warned.
Tuberville made the statements on John Catsimatidis’ radio show, “Cats Roundtable” on WABC 770 AM on Sunday. According to the senator, the conflict between Moscow and Kiev is on the verge of spilling over to other nations and potentially involving the US military. Tuberville also accused Zelensky of trying to get NATO heavily involved in the war, saying there is “no doubt” about that. He then added that the Ukrainian leader understands “he can’t win this war on his own” and “knows he is losing.” The senator also called Zelensky a “dictator” who has “created all the problems” and does not want to hold elections.
“[Zelensky] knew if he had an election, he would have been voted out,” the senator said. Instead, Ukraine’s ruler is looking for ways to escalate the conflict, Tuberville believes.
Much of the West is already incredibly engaged in this conflict, whether they are urging peace talks or actively supporting Ukraine with financial and military assets.

But Tuberville claims that Ukraine’s recent attack on Russian military airfields is a huge cause for concern. Ukrainian drones struck several Russian airbases in various parts of the country in late May. Ukrainian media claimed that the strikes damaged or destroyed around 40 Russian military aircraft. Moscow has said that no planes were destroyed in the attacks.
United States ruler Donald Trump has also said he “didn’t like” Kiev’s strikes on Russia’s airfields, and that Ukraine gave Moscow a reason to “bomb the hell out of them.” Russia has condemned Ukraine’s drone strikes and acts of sabotage on Russian territory, claiming they undermine efforts to find a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
In the aftermath of the recent strikes on Russia, Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine and its ruling class are not interested in peace, but in keeping the war going for as long as possible.
