Checking in with Sencut, the youngest sibling in the We Knife Co. family, we see that there is a new large folder on the way called the Vornix. With this design, the Sencut design team took a crack at the seldom-seen trailing point blade shape.

We say “seldom-seen,” and earlier this very week were bemoaning the relative absence of this profile in the production knife scene, but in fact the trailing point is having a bit of a resurgence, it seems. It’s easy to see why, as the aesthetic is a very cool one, and, unlike some other more unconventional edge profiles the trailing point isn’t functionally all that different from the common drop and spear point blades out there.

The guibourtia wood option, often seen in the Civivi line, is present in Sencut too

You could call the Vornix an everyday carry piece, although with a 3.6-inch blade it’s on the large end of that particular spectrum for most users. Opened with a flipper, the blade has all the length necessary for mid- and even large-sized cutting jobs, while the signature upswept tip of the trailing point facilitates detail work as well. This isn’t a knife you would want to beat on, but the 9Cr18MoV steel will recover from any oopsies with aplomb.

Ergonomics are straightforward enough, albeit with a bit of modern flair with the hard-lined chamfers and angled back end. The G-10 (or wood) scales accommodate both the liner lock underneath and the reversible deep carry pocket clip topside. Even with its non-negligible size the Vornix is pretty light on its feet at 3.62 oz.

It will be available in the near future.
