Netanyahu Drafts A Plan To Annex Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has drafted a new plan to annex Gaza and seize the land from Palestine. Thanks to the ongoing war, much of Gaza is uninhabitable, and a large proportion of its population has been displaced.

The scheme was first reported by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, which claimed that Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to propose a plan by which Israel will begin claiming parts of Gaza to be Israeli territory, with an eye on eventually seizing all of it.  The plan is being backed by United States President Donald Trump and is certain to trigger international condemnation.

The goal of Netanyahu is to prevent his extremist ruling coalition from splintering.

If Israel is successful with this plan, it will give the Gaza political and militant group Hamas a short deadline for accepting a ceasefire. If Hamas refuses to accept Netanyahu’s terms (which will likely be written to guarantee refusal), Israel will start annexing portions of Gaza, starting with the buffer zone it has created along the perimeter of the territory. Once that part of the plan is completed, Israel will proceed to seize more land in the north.

Eventually, all of Gaza will be claimed as Israeli land, fulfilling the wishes of extremist ministers who are vital to Netanyahu’s ruling coalition.

Itamar Ben Gvir, who leads the National Security Ministry, called Netanyahu’s move “a capitulation to Hamas’s deceitful campaign,” and reiterated his demand that nothing at all be allowed to flow into Gaza, and for the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) to conquer the territory and encourage the Palestinians to move to other countries.

Back in April, Israel announced it had come up with a plan to seize large areas of Gaza, so this isn’t a new idea.
