Les George’s partnership with KA-BAR continues to bear fixed blade fruit – this time in a more unconventional form. The new George Roscoe is a compact and quirky little EDC fixed blade that prioritizes ergonomics with some unusual design choices.

Despite his recent work in the fixed blade field, we always associate George with folders – particularly folders of the “tiny tank” variety; perhaps that’s because his early production work with Zero Tolerance fell into this category. The Roscoe, although it contains no moving parts whatsoever, has some of that same “small but tough” philosophy that made those George collabs so popular.

It’s got a mini pistol grip!

The Roscoe has a stubby upturned wharnie blade, measuring a mere 1.8 inches long. Anybody at all familiar with the wharnie knows that it excels in this size category, and is able to wring the most cutting power out of compact dimensions. KA-BAR is one of the few companies that turns out forged production pieces, and the Roscoe is the latest in that trend, made from 425HC steel.

You don’t often see a knife of the Roscoe’s size with a pistol grip handle, but that’s exactly what George implemented here. It’s a pretty small example of the form too, but it works in tandem with a finger ring guard, so that the pointed finger can move up off the pistol grip for extra control. There’s a sheath included with the Roscoe, made from Celcon thermoplastic, and it weighs 3.2 oz total.

It’s out now.
