With a new year dawning, it won’t be long before manufacturers begin unleashing the first wave of 2026 product releases upon us, but there is already plenty to talk about – not least of which the fact that Jack Wolf Knives is prepping the Timber Jack, their biggest slipjoint yet, for release later this month.

In fact, the Timber Jack is also the latest in Jack Wolf’s small but growing collection of collaboration models as well. This is a production version of the Tracy LaRock custom of the same name. LaRock is a perfect fit for a Jack Wolf collaboration because his work as a custom maker falls squarely into the “modern traditional” genre that Jack Wolf itself has always favored. The Timber Jack is his signature model and, like all customs (particularly slipjoint customs), its availability has always been limited at best – but now it will be rolling out through Jack Wolf in two different trim levels.

The G-10 models have striking, contrasting liner elements

The Jack Wolf Timber Jack is very faithful indeed to its handmade predecessor. Courtesy of a 3.4-inch spear point blade, this is a slipjoint with modern folder dimensions, many modern folder capabilities, and a look that blends the traditional knife tenets with a very discernible tactical flair. Both trim models feature 154 CM steel, a no muss/no fuss formula notable not only for its balanced characteristics, but many years of service in the custom traditional field as well.

A ridged grip, with two separate zones for the fingers, defines the Timber Jack handle – and again, it’s a design element brought over more or less unchanged from the LaRock custom. Jack Wolf is putting their spin on the model with the trim levels and attendant material choices: the Ultralight versions come with scales made of cross-hatched G-10 and smooth faux bolster, while the four Steel Series versions feature steel bolsters and a choice of four materials for the scales: brown/black Richlite, red canvas Micarta, and two different flavors of Kirinite.

The Jack Wolf Timber Jack will be released on January 16th – not long to wait.
