Viridian Weapon Technologies recently unveiled a compact enclosed emitted green dot reflex sight, the Viridian RFX 42.

As a compact enclosed emitter reflex sight, the Viridian RFX 42 uses the Shield Sights RMSc optics footprint, which is one of the more popular footprints for micro reflex and red-dot sights, usually found in pistols with thinner slides and slimmer profiles. This includes the modern crop of thin, striker-fired carry guns including models like the Glock G43X, Glock G48, Taurus GX4, Smith & Wesson M&P Shield, Springfield Armory Hellcat and the SIG Sauer P365 family. In addition to this, the RMSc optics footprint pattern is often found on optics-ready 1911-style pistols due to the narrower slides on those guns.

The Viridian RFX 42 has a green dot that is easy to see across different lighting conditions. The Viridian RFX 42 is designed with different brightness settings including two night-vision compatible modes. These enclosed emitter sights also include Viridian’s “Instant On” technology, which not only helps to conserve battery but automatically powers up the sight when motion is detected. All power comes off a single CR 1620 battery that the company claims provides an average runtime up to 28,000 hours.

“Shooters have been asking for a rugged, enclosed, compact optic that doesn’t sacrifice clarity or speed—and the RFX42 delivers,” said Viridian President and CEO, Brian Hedeen. “It’s built to thrive on carry guns and perform under pressure, with premium features that competitors just aren’t offering at this size or price point.”

Viridian RFX 42 Features

  • 5-MOA green dot
  • RMSc footprint
  • Enclosed-emitter housing
  • 10 brightness settings—includes two night-vision compatible levels.
  • Long battery life—up to 28,000 hours on a single CR1620 using a removable side battery tray for quick changes without removing the unit.
  • Instant-on motion activation—powers on with movement and automatically turns off after inactivity to conserve power.
  • Machined aluminum housing with an IPX6 water-resistance rating.
  • Compact, lightweight design suitable for EDC and CCW pistols

MSRP for the RFX 42 is $399. Visit viridianweapontech.com to learn more about this new optics or other products from Viridian.
