Taurus USA recently launched the new Taurus 817, a double-action revolver with a 2-inch barrel and a seven-shot cylinder chambered for .38 Spl. +P.

The new Taurus 817 revolver is built from stainless steel on the Taurus Medium frame, similar to the Taurus Tracker, and both the new Taurus 817 and Tracker can use the same grips and stocks. These new revolvers can only be had with a matte stainless-steel finish, and all of them ship with rubber boot grips out of the box. The Taurus 817 uses the traditional Taurus double-action revolver mechanism that includes an internal transfer bar safety.

Even though the Taurus 817 is in a different size and weight class than its small-framed sibling, the .38 Spl. Taurus 856, both models share interchangeable front sights, which is held in place by a roll pin and can be easy to swap out and upgrade.
