Taurus USA recently unveiled the new Taurus 58, a .380 ACP, hammer-fired, semi-automatic pistol built on an aluminum frame based on the iconic Beretta Model 84 Cheetah design. The new Taurus Model 58 is optimized as a carry-friendly, defensive-firearm option that makes use of the mild recoiling .380 ACP pistol cartridge which some shooters may find slightly easier to control compared to the more common 9mm cartridge, as it is loaded in a shorter casing, uses less propellant and pushes a lighter-weight bullet. The new Taurus 58 models are available in a stainless or an all-black finish. They include a traditional hammer-fired, double-action trigger setup and use frame-mounted, ambidextrous safety levers and decockers.

Taurus 58 .380 ACP pistols follow in the classic styling of the Beretta open-top slide pattern, which promotes reliability by offering plenty of space for empty casings to eject. In addition, these slides feature a fixed front sight and a drifting rear adjustable iron sight.
