Springfield Armory is releasing the new Model 2020 Heatseeker, a compact chassis-based rifle built for shooters who want bolt-action precision and AR-style modularity in a suppressor-ready platform.

This new bolt-action rifle features a Sharps Bros. Heatseeker chassis with a Coyote Brown Cerakote finish and is offered in .308 Win. or 6.5 Creedmoor. The chassis is machined from a solid block of 6061-T6 billet aluminum for strength and weighs only 1 pound, 3 ounces. The chassis includes a 14-inch free-float handguard that weighs 10 ounces and has M-Lok on all four sides and dual QD sling mounts on each side.

In addition to this, the chassis is designed with AR-style features for maximum modularity. It’s outfitted with a buffer-tube extension for mounting AR-pattern stocks and is designed to accept AR-pattern pistol grips. The Model 2020 Heatseeker also comes with a B5 Systems Collapsible Precision Stock (CPS) that is adjustable for both length of pull and cheek height. There is a matching CPS adjustable cheek piece and a B5 Systems P-Grip 23 is also included.

At the heart of the Model 2020 Heatseeker is Springfield’s Model 2020 stainless steel action, which features dual locking lugs, a fluted bolt and EDM raceways. Mated to that action is a free-floated 16-inch BSF barrel jacketed in a roll-wrapped carbon fiber sleeve and loaded under tension. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 tpi to accept the suppressor or muzzle device of your choice, and features a thread-protector muzzle cap.

A TriggerTech Field Trigger, adjustable for a pull weight from 2.5 to 5 pounds and a metal five-round AICS-pattern magazine round out the package. The result of all this effort is a rifle with an impressive .75-MOA accuracy guarantee

“The Model 2020 line of bolt-action rifles has established a solid reputation for uncompromising performance and quality,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “This new Model 2020 Heatseeker adds a new dimension to the line, one that is as equally at home in the field as it is on the range.”

MSRP for the Model 2020 Heatseeker in either .308 Win or 6.5 Creedmoor is $2,355, and more information on this rifle as well as the other firearms and products made by Springfield Armory is available at springfield-armory.com.
