Smith & Wesson caused a splash last year after the historic company launched its first-ever lever action rifles and carbines, the Smith & Wesson Model 1854 Series. At the original launch, the 1854 Series could be had with the classic straight-wall big bore cartridge chamberings of either .44 Rem Mag. or .45 Colt. For 2025, Smith & Wesson is expanding the Model 1854 product family to include new .357 Mag. options.

Model 1854 rifles designed with the timeless and classic American lever gun aesthetic, and Smith & Wesson offers its customers two different configurations: a stainless-steel carbine with black synthetic furniture or a version with walnut hardwood furniture and all-steel surfaces finished with Smith & Wesson’s signature black Armonite finish that is more durable than traditional surface bluing. 1854 Series lever guns all have 19-inch barrels, a 10-round tubular magazine, a 4.75-inch Picatinny optics-mounting base and an adjustable XS Sights ghost-ring rear sight. These lever action rifles also include a gold-bead front sight, a flat-face trigger and a removable magazine tube for cleaning and safer unloading. To facilitate ease of use, all 1854 Series models include a large-loop lever and a modern loading gate on the right side of the receiver.
