Smith & Wesson has just announced the new CSX E-Series, the next step in the company’s CSX line of small carry pistols. Both the original CSX and the new CSX E-Series pistols are alloy-framed, hammer-fired micro-compact carry guns chambered in 9mm. The new E-Series version gives Smith & Wesson customers the choice between 3.1- and 3.6-inch barreled pistols. Besides the standard 10-round-compliant magazine versions for certain markers, the the new E-Series pistols feature magazines that hold 12, 15 or 17 rounds of 9mm ammo. Also, all new CSX E-Series models are optics ready. Because these are slimmer guns, they utilize the Shield Sights RMSc / Holosun-K optics footprint pattern for a mounted optic. For added convenience when shooting with a slide mounted red-dot sight, CSX E-Series have Smith & Wesson’s Clearsight barrel hood cut which helps divert gasses, carbon and fouling away from the front window of the optic. For ease of carry, the newer CXS E-Series also implements an interchangeable backstrap system that allows the user to switch backstraps to better fit their hand and pare down the size of the grip to make the pistol easier to conceal.
