Sturm, Ruger & Co. is now offering two new variants of its popular .380 ACP LCP Max pistol, each with a manual thumb safety. These new models have a single safety lever on the left side of the frame meant to be compatible with right-handed shooters. One model also includes a loaded-chamber indicator and magazine-disconnect feature. Those extra features allow that version to be compliant with firearms restrictions in certain like California.

The Ruger LCP Max is one of the smallest and thinnest .380 ACP polymer frame striker fired micro compact pistols on the market. For its size, it holds an impressive 10+1 rounds of .380 ACP ammunition while still being fairly small and light. This little pistol also keeps the same footprint as the original Ruger LCP II, which is a descendant of the original Ruger LCP, or Light Carry Pistol.

The two new manual-thumb-safety models have the same matte stainless slide at the standard Ruger LCP Max. These pistols also feature polished sides with crisp cocking serrations, while textured grip frame provides a secure and comfortable grip.

The tritium front sight with white outline makes for fast acquisition in all light conditions, and the rear sight features a generous U-notch for easy alignment and a square front face for single-handed cocking. Sight dovetails are sized to accept aftermarket iron sights.

Ruger LCP Max Manual Thumb Safety Specifications:

  • Caliber: .380 ACP
  • Weight: 10.6 ounces
  • Width: .81 inch
  • Barrel Length: 2.8 inches
  • Magazine Capacity: 10 rounds
  • Magazines included: Two
  • Frame: Polymer
  • Sights: Tritium carry sights with white outline

These new LCP Max variants have an MSRP of $379. To learn more about these pistols or the rest of Ruger’s firearms offerings, visit ruger.com.
