Liberty Ammo is expanding its product catalog by offering rifle cartridges in 6mm ARC. Originally designed by Hornady, the 6mm ARC (Advanced Rifle Cartridge) is a new, intermediate bottleneck rifle cartridge that pushes ballistically efficient 6mm bullets weighing around 100 grains to surpass traditional 5.56 NATO ballistics.
Hornady designed the 6mm ARC cartridge, and now Liberty Ammo has started loading, selling and marketing this new modern intermediate caliber as well. However, Liberty Ammo’s own 6mm ARC loads are little different. Liberty’s 6mm projectiles are lead-free: Instead of the traditional lead core, Liberty Ammo turns and machines its own copper projectiles to meet its stringent quality and accuracy standards.
Liberty Ammo’s 6mm ARC load comes loaded with an Overwatch 103-grain projectile that’s rated to penetrate 12 to 16 inches of ballistic gelatin while also being efficient in flight.
Gary Ramey, CEO of Liberty Ammunition, said, “At a recent range day with a military unit, they asked us to improve upon current 6mm ARC offerings. We went to work to develop a 100-percent copper round. We wanted to machine it and dial it in to be more accurate than competition. We did it. Traveling at 2,750 fps, the 103-grain bullet provides unmatched accuracy.”
