Leupold is known for its scopes and optics, but the company is also offering customers high-end sunglasses and eyewear that are optimized for outdoor activities. The Beaverton, OR, company recently announced the addition of a new style of lens to the Performance Eyewear line with Daylight Max lenses.

Daylight Max lenses are designed to allow for more light transmission in low light settings without the extra glare or other uncomfortable byproducts that are normal with lenses that have higher light transmission. Leupold’s new Daylight Max lenses accomplish this while also retaining polarity, which means that not only is glare reduced, but things like the ability to see beneath the surface of the water won’t be lost either. Daylight Max lenses use a silver, mirrored finish that hides their standard yellow tinted base hue. They’re manufactured from a durable but lightweight polycarbonate material. Furthermore, depending on the specific model, they will be available with ANSI Z87.1+ ballistic protection as well.

“If you spend enough time in the field, especially during early mornings, late evenings, or anytime there’s significant cloud cover, you’ll find yourself in a situation where you want to be able to utilize the polarization your eyewear offers–but the light is so low, you wind up limiting your vision, otherwise,” said Zach Bird, product line manager for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “Our new Daylight Max lenses are made for those situations. They offer greater light transition than our standard lenses, and still deliver everything you expect from polarized eyewear. Whether you’re trying to spot elk on a distant ridge or looking for that trophy bass under a submerged log, Daylight Max lenses will turn low-light situations into low-light opportunities.”

Leupold will be implementing the new Daylight Max lens technology across six of its Performance Eyewear frame models including the Switchback, DeSoto, Cheyenne, Bridger, Becnara and Tracers.
