Buck Paklite Field Knife Steps into the Spotlight for September

The September Buck of the Month is here, and it’s something off the beaten path. The 631 PakLite, a lightweight outdoors knife, forms the basis of the first fall 2025 limited edition from the Post Falls, Idaho-based manufacturer.

There are some Buck knives we talk about a lot here at KnifeNews – legacy models like the 110 Folding Hunter and the 119 Special, of course, but also some of their modern contributions like the Deploy automatic knives or the Sprint Ops series. One knife family that has never gotten much time in the spotlight, however, is the PakLite series, a lineup of skeletonized fixies available in classic outdoors blade profiles and affordable, straightforward materials.

The Paklite weighs 3.1 oz.

This BotM 631 is, obviously, quite a different beast, with some major material upgrades bequeathed upon it for this limited edition run. The standard 631 is made from 420HC steel, an entry level formulation; and while there is a Pro variant with S35VN steel, that’s as far up at the metallurgical chain as this particular model has ever gone. The BotM 631 however is a solid chunk of none other than MagnaCut steel, benefiting from a Paul Bos heat treat and sporting a vibrant, high viz orange Cerakote.

The MagnaCut will give the 631 a major boost in performance, with increased edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance – really the complete package as far as enhancements go. But there’s also a cosmetic upgrade in tow on the BotM 631, as the “micro-scale” attached to both the front and back sides of the handle is made from marbled carbon fiber. This premium material is obviously appealing in and of itself, but, being extremely light weight too, it fits right into the 631 – and PakLite family in general – remit of easy to carry, high utility fixed blades for adventuring.

The BotM 631 is available now, and is limited to 500 pieces – one of the smaller Buck of the Month runs.
