There’s a fresh batch of fixed blades arriving today from knife maker Michael Jarvis, the one-man army behind Auxiliary Manufacturing (AUX Mfg. to friends). This time around Jarvis is showcasing his range, with knives of varying sizes, applications, and styles.

We had an in-depth interview with Jarvis in the summer of 2022, which was his sixth year as a full-time maker. At the time he had already made a name for himself with his winning takes on kitchen knives, tactical, everyday users – you name it. But no matter the model Jarvis stayed focus on the basics of sound knife design: “Not much is more important in a great knife than solid ergonomics,” he told us back in ’22. “The beauty of being a one man op making knives by hand is that I, the maker, hold every single knife that comes out my shop and make sure it fits right in the hand and is free of hot spots.”

Jarvis got bit by the knife bug after getting gifted a Graham Razel. “From that moment all I wanted to do was learn to make them,” he says.

In these 2025 pieces, that commitment to comfort comes through even in a still image. The Karl, a 4 inch-bladed workhorse with some notable tactical inflection, has a parrot beak butt end, butts out in the middle, of the grip, and sports scales made from G-10 that has been worked over to have a stepped, three-dimensional appearance, as if Jarvis had sculpted it with a chisel. Meanwhile, on other pieces like the leaf blade Coffin and the Tsume, there’s a distinct infusion of Japanese blade making principles, especially on the Tsume, which has a tsukamaki-style wrapping on its handle and a talon-like blade.

Speaking of blades, Jarvis’s steel of choice is AEB-L, a true stalwart for custom fixed blade makers. Like many other popular Bohler-Uddeholm formulations, AEB-L is very clean, even-tempered, and capable of many different applications, whether it be the rugged cutting jobs the Coffin might be taken out for, or the more specialized applications of the Broadhead, Jarvis’s take on the compact tactical push dagger format.

These knives and more will be available at KnivesShipFree today, March 21, at 10am EST.
